Oooooo, hope that snake was so close because of your good zoom!:)
I thought about you when I was in TN last week. Have you been to the Museum of Appalachia? We enjoyed it, thought you guys would too. If you haven't been, if you're ever toward Knoxville, check it out.
LOL--I don't have a good zoom. I was about 2 feet away from the first snake and 3 feet away from the 2nd, larger one. I've always hated snakes. Observing snakes in their natural environments and taking pictures of them is all about overcoming irrational fears for me. :) My skin crawls as I stand there. They are totally no big deal to Gerrick. I show him one and he looks at it for all of 3-4 seconds and moves on. "It's just a snake, Mama!" ;)
We have not been to that museum. In fact, I don't think I've ever even been to Knoxville. We'll have to check it out one day. :)
Oh woooow! I love the snakes! We don't see them as much around here, but I'm hoping to come across one on a hike soon. Beautiful pictures. Looks like a great time.
Wow, what beautiful photos, Sherry! How yummy that creek looks. I want it to be warm, right now, and have a creek like that to explore! Your boy looks so happy.
I love the snake pics, especially. Do you have poisonous ones where you are, or are they all just sleek and gorgeous and harmless, like this one? (At least I'm assuming he's not deadly, otherwise wouldn't the photo be blurry as you panicked and started Running For Your Life?) :)
Beautiful photos! I would have to have a good zoom lens, otherwise close-ups of snakes just aren't going to happen! lol Love the post, there's nothing like wading and splashing in a creek on a hot summer day.
These are wonderful pictures. We rarely see snakes! I think between two dogs and two loud kids running ahead, they are long gone by the time I walk up. lol

Thanks, Helena. We do have several venomous snakes that call this area home, but we haven't seen any of them in the wild--yet, at least. ;)
