Family Nature Walk

We've decided to make an effort to get outdoors as a family on most Sunday afternoons. Today we started our new tradition by going to Long Hunter State Park and exploring the two-mile loop trail around Couchville Lake. Gerrick and I came here once before with friends back in Sept. '09 and had an awesome day. Things looked much different this trip--still great, just different.  Aside from the forest being in its winter state, the water was also really low and we were able to explore lots of rocky shoreline.

We saw two turkeys get a running start and fly across the lake.

Gerrick brought a prism with him and played with it all day.

"The mud is lava!"

"Don't fall in!"

It was a good day.

  7. I'm with Stephanie, the running turkeys are indeed, hilarious.

Aside from turkey vultures, I think turkeys must be one of the least attractive birds around. :)

Happy Valentine's Day...hope you have *another* nice day (or evening) with your boys. :)
