Niña and Pinta

We went to Chattanooga to see the Columbus ship replicas, Niña and Pinta.  We were surprised by how small they were!  The Niña (the smaller one in the picture below) was built to scale, but the Pinta was built 50% larger than scale.  You can watch a video about the ships here and see more information about the replicas at The Columbus Foundation.

During Columbus's day, the crew actually slept on deck; animals were kept in the hold.

Gerrick enjoyed seeing the ships, but not nearly as much as he enjoyed sliding down the hill on cardboard!

Many thanks to my friend Kristi for the suggestion to take cardboard with us!
It is definitely a must-pack item for any return trips we may take to the area.
