Gerrick wanted to study rocks and minerals last month. Turns out this is a fairly complex subject and he decided he didn't want to do a lapbook at this point. We read several books, but really all he needed to answer his current questions was Bill Nye's video...
We are doing a rocks and minerals unit next....I'll have to bookmark that video for later. I haven't decided how in depth we'll go yet on the subject.....
I had never heard of Bill - we don't have a telly. Maybe I could persuade Amie to trade one of her Charlie and Lola sessions (30 minutes a day) for Bill? Maybe she'll shake the British accent?
Coming to this blog is like visiting a big brother for Amie: Gerrick has the coolest stuff! And Sherry allows me a glimpse of Amie's future.
Rick (bedtimes): - NIV Bible - The Jungle Book(audio)
Sherry (weekend family storytimes): - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Gerrick's Bucket List
- See bald eagles in the wild - Go to a Lego store - Go to Legoland - Visit the Statue of Liberty - See the Leaning Tower of Pisa - See a gargoyle on a building - Hear a pipe organ played live - Visit the Grand Canyon - Take a tour of the Everglades - Visit a maple syrup farm & make maple candy on snow - Go on a whale watch
How cool is that! I remember when Bill Nye was very popular. I had no idea he was still around, doing his thing. This is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about Bill Nye. Thanks for the reminder.
