We have plans to go out to my Dad's property one of these days. It's a few miles from where we live--we'd like to investigate his pond, litle creek and the nearby larger, Swatara Creek.
I used to swim in "The Swatty" when I was little. :) I took home my fair share of leeches, too. :(

Kind of like the chapter we just read in On the Banks of Plum Creek, Laura and Mary play in the creek all day long. Lucky boy!
