Gerrick found another turtle. This time we're going to follow our new "24-hour observation" policy.
His old field bag just wasn't very functional for all the wetness of summer. I ordered this mesh bag and it's been working pretty well. Later this afternoon, it occurred to me to clip on the strap from our old camera bag to make it even better.
:) Box turtles are so much fun. They love to eat lots of things. :) These are the ones that eat lettuces and they think a strawberry is a real treat. He is so pretty. :)
I wish I could be more encouraging with my children when it comes to nature and finding animals and bugs, etc. I don't really like to touch them myself so I'm not the best example. You do a great job!
I made a field bag for Benjamin before we left for the seashore--and quickly realized, it wasn't quite fit for the moistness of the sea. Nonetheless, it'll work out nicely for "the field."
I used netting bag (like onion bags) to collect shells--those worked very well for us!
I loved catching up with you--I missed my online friends while I was gone. :) Oh--and thanks for all the links!!

ReplyDeleteIs this awesome creek in your yard? I love the summer field bag! I can't wait until we need one. Good idea for the strap.
ReplyDeleteIt runs along the edge of our neighborhood and is a couple of streets over from us. :)
