In a comment yesterday, Momma Snail suggested practicing letter formation with sensory trays. Then later last night I saw the same thing on Adventures of a Rainbow Mama. So of course, today I just had to pull out the salt! :)
Even though we've done this before, it has been a while. When Gerrick spotted the tray on the table, he lit up with excitement. "OOOh...what's this letter s doing here? What is this? Can I do it?"...
Sherry, I totally love that!!! My 4 yr olds would probably have a lot of fun practicing their letters in a salt tray! I'm gonna try it with them tomorrow!!
Thanks for following me! I added myself to your follow list as well. Welcome to the Follow Me Club!
Thats a really good idea! Fun and creative! What kind of weather are you guys having?? We had like one week of beautiful weather and now...we're back in sweaters and coats. Crazy!
I should try this activity again. I did it months ago with cornmeal, but my son just wanted me to make the letters (well, mostly numbers) but salt sounds like a good material.
When I first glanced at the picture, I thought it was shaving cream, and I was wondering how on earth you managed to keep your son and the table so clean!
Salt looks like a great idea! We've done similar projects, but never tried salt.
Those are really cool! It must be relaxing to trace the letters in salt, like the mini zen gardens? Anyway, I'm Cherrie from follow me club. Just started following you :-)
Rick (bedtimes): - NIV Bible - The Jungle Book(audio)
Sherry (weekend family storytimes): - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Gerrick's Bucket List
- See bald eagles in the wild - Go to a Lego store - Go to Legoland - Visit the Statue of Liberty - See the Leaning Tower of Pisa - See a gargoyle on a building - Hear a pipe organ played live - Visit the Grand Canyon - Take a tour of the Everglades - Visit a maple syrup farm & make maple candy on snow - Go on a whale watch
