The leprechauns in this cartoon washed their gold, and that reminded me about this science activity that I'll suggest later this afternoon or tomorrow. (Update: We did it! You can see that post here.)
After lunch we hit DLTK's sites, and when Gerrick spotted the spinning shamrocks, he had to play this game. His prize from this game was a couple of coloring sheets. (He insisted I print them.) While he is working on those, I just found these other St. Patrick's Day activities that I'll offer to him later today and maybe even tomorrow.
I like the bingo game! I can't believe we didn't do anything for St. Pat's day. My poor deprived children. ;) Last year I made all green food for supper and they didn't eat a bit of it because it was green.
sometimes those ad-hoc lessons are the best ones. Fun, simple and following his lead. He probably learned more DOING stuff than he would have hearing any story from the library anyway :)
That clover patch brings back such great memories! How many hours of my childhood spent in the clovers!! We made green muffins for breakfast and painted some green dinosaurs! ...does that count! Way to go on the fly...
This is a nice variety of activities. I esp. like the bingo. Kiddo would love that. I've never done any St. Pat's day activities, which is remiss of me since NYC is sooooo into the holiday.
I'm Sherry Gann, and this is where I share glimpses of my (currently 9yo) son's adventures. Our family of three enjoys a relaxed learning lifestyle, and though we're committed to no specific method, we are inspired by Charlotte Mason and project-based homeschooling. Our goal is simple: to grow as lifelong learners while living peaceful, joyful, healthy lives.
Thanks for the great idea, I tutor a first grader a few hours a week and I am alwyas looking for crative games for him!
