REALLY Cool Storm Troopers!!!!

We took Gerrick trick-or-treating at a mall, and he was really surprised and excited to meet these Star Wars characters there!

Happy Halloween!

The Jack-o-Lantern

Hay Hunt

Instead of just passing out treat bags, Gerrick's preschool has a Hay Hunt. All the candy and party favors that parents send are buried in a pile of hay, and the kids get to hunt for the goodies. They really seemed to enjoy it. Oh...and of course the letter of the week is "H". :) (Gerrick is the one in the orange shirt.)

Ahoy There Scurvy Dog!

Gerrick dressed up like a pirate for his preschool costume party this morning. It's hard to tell, but he even has a bag of gold and his compass hanging on his sash. :)

Gerrick Recommends...

Inventor McGregor
written by Kathleen T. Pelley
illustrated by Michael Chesworth

Gerrick: "I like this book because Hattie the hen is just so cute. I like that Inventor McGregor can fix everything that needs to be fixed. The pictures of the characters in the book are good."

Tissue Ghosts

Before Rickey went to work this morning, he made a ghost for Gerrick:

After he went to work, the ghosts quickly multiplied:

Here Gerrick shows that they were made by putting a tissue over an action figure:

I went to get dressed for the day, and when I came back, this is what I found:

I asked him what happened, and he said, "There are really only two real ghosts. They found out that the other ones were only bad guys dressed up like ghosts--so they destroyed them!"

Gerrick 's Goodwill Grab Bag

I've been taking Gerrick to Goodwill since he started walking. He has always loved digging through their toys; it's like a treasure hunt! Today was the first time that they've had a "fill-your-own-grab bag" section. They had big tubs full of small toys and gallon plastic bags. Customers fill their own bags and pay $2.99 per bag. This is perfect for kids! They can get a whole bag of stuff they like for only $2.99!!! Gerrick spent his own $3 and is very happy with his purchases. :)

We also bought these two books for 59 cents each.

Halloween Carvings

Rickey carved this cute set of Halloween figurines from basswood.
Gerrick pointed out that there is no writing on the headstones. Rickey told him that he knew, but he couldn't decide what to put on them. Gerrick replied, "Oh, you're just going to pretend the rain washed the words off?"...:)

Today we saw a special free performance of Carnival of the Animals by the Nashville Ballet at the Main Nashville Public Library. Click here to listen to some of the music.

Eyeball Pudding

Nana watches as Gerrick adds the special ingredient to eyeball pudding: gummy eyeballs!

Developing Finger Strength with Chopsticks

I found this really cute set of "cheater" chopsticks in the dollar section at Target today.

These are great for developing finger strength needed for pencil control. Gerrick thinks they're a lot of fun, too. We started with picking up cotton balls and putting them in a bowl, then moved on to candy corn, then coins. I'm sure he'll want to actually eat with them soon. :)

Playing in the Sprinklers

We're so grateful Gerrick finally has his own yard. :)

Survived the Move

We survived the move and are settling in nicely. We still haven't signed up for internet service, though. I'm having lunch at Krystal's today and using their wifi to catch the blog up to date. :)
